Phong is a fellow member of ACCA (UK), a Chartered Accountant of Australia and New Zealand and has also been a member of CPA Vietnam since 2001.
Being a dual citizen of both Vietnam and Australia, Phong has opportunities to diversify his education and work experience. Phong completed his tertiary and graduate education in the UK and Australia where he earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in business research. Phong is currently studying at Oxford University, the United Kingdom for the Executive Master of Business Administration program where he earns state-of-the- art knowledge and practice sharing in business at one of the world’s most prestigious universities.
Phong has a blended work experience gained from 15+ years of audit and advisory experience with Ernst & Young and PwC in Vietnam and in Australia and 6+ years of hands-on financial and strategic management in the FMCG and real estate industries where he held the positions of director, and deputy general director of finance, accounting, and strategic management. Whilst working in the real estate development industry, Phong led his team, alongside the McKinsey team, successfully formulated and implemented the 10-year business strategy for one of the largest real estate developers in Vietnam.
Phong led the team in auditing the statutory and special purposes for clients in various industries from financial services, real estate, education, supermarket, and aviation to manufacturing in Australia including ANZ Australia, Central Bank of East Timor, Ford Australia, Iveco Trucks Australia, Goodyear Dunlop & Tyres Australia, Caterpillar Australia, Grace Australia, Wolpers Grahl Pty Ltd, Centro Retail Group, Pacifica Australia, Robert Bosch Australia, Paspaley Group, Catholic Education Group of Schools, Maningrida Incorporation, NEC Australia Pty Ltd, Aegis Services Australia Pty Ltd, United Voice Australia- Northern Territory Branch, and Styron Australia Pty Ltd.
Phong led the team to provide assurance and advisory services to some of the largest corporations in the industry in Vietnam from investment funds, hospitality, and retail to manufacturing such as Dragon Capital, Vietnam Investments Fund, Vietnam Growth Fund, Manulife Progressive Fund, and Vietcombank Investment Fund; Exxon Mobil, Mitsubishi Motors, REE, Kinh Do, Thien Long, Ajinomoto, Heineken & Tiger Beer; Tan Son Nhat Cargo, Saigon Precision, Keppel Land, Accor Group, New World Hotel, Novotel, British Grammar School, and Big C supermarket.
